Scarletts Road Design options

Exploring Design Possibilities:

The design journey commenced with a series of initial concept sketch options, showing different layouts, massing options and finishes, thoughtfully presented to the client. This crucial stage allowed for a comprehensive exploration of different forms and their potential impact on the neighbour’s right to light. By visualising multiple possibilities, the client was empowered to make informed decisions that balanced aesthetic preferences with regulatory requirements.

A Thoughtful Response to Context:

Navigating the complexities of the right-to-light legislation was a central consideration. The final design emerged as a sophisticated solution: an elegantly off-centre roofline. This was not a compromise but rather an ingenious design choice that simultaneously complied with legal parameters and maximised internal headroom. This thoughtful approach underscores our commitment to responsive and contextually aware design.

Visualising the Transformation:

To help the client understand the spatial implications of the evolving design, a detailed CGI 3d model derived from the approved drawings provided an invaluable virtual walkthrough experience. This allowed the client to fully grasp the impact of the off-centre roof and the flow of space before construction commenced, building confidence and excitement.

Harmonising Interior and Exterior:

The external form informs the interior design. The strategic incorporation of natural light, optimised through window placement that considers the roof’s geometry, creates bright and welcoming internal spaces. Furthermore, the internal wooden finishes echo the external architectural language, establishing a cohesive and harmonious environment throughout the home.

Seamless Integration with Nature:

A key objective was to address the original disconnect between the house and garden. The introduction of the sunken garden, seamlessly integrated with the new extension, extending the interiors to the courtyard, to create an outdoor living room. The before and after photographs poignantly capture this transformation, while dedicated images showcase the revitalised garden and the distinctive final exterior.

Sustainable Design for Enhanced Living:

Our commitment to sustainability and well-being is woven into the fabric of the design. Our material choices and construction methods reflect circular economy principles, ensuring a durable and environmentally conscious build.
